Fatberg & Scale Removal at a Manchester Food Prep Facility
Our team responded to an emergency call-out from an industrial food processing facility in Manchester City Centre experiencing severe gully overflows. Wastewater backup was threatening production continuity, risking costly operational downtime.
The Challenge
Heavy accumulation of Fat, Oil, and Grease (FOG) and calcium scale narrowing the main 150mm sewer lateral down to less than 15% capacity.
The Solution
High-Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) at 4000 PSI using specialized concrete-cutting and descaling nozzles, followed by a full CCTV drainage verification survey.
"Avery Drainage Solutions arrived within 90 minutes of our call. They cleared the blockage and descaled the main line with zero disruption to our main production shift. Truly professional contractors." — Plant Manager
Structural Patch Lining & Root Removal in Lymm, Warrington
During a routine pre-purchase Homebuyer CCTV Drain Survey for a detached residence in Lymm, our camera equipment identified invasive tree root growth. The roots had fractured a vitreous clay drainage run directly beneath the homeowner's beautifully landscaped driveway.
The Challenge
Severely cracked clay pipes with root mass blockages. Excavating would mean tearing up an expensive block-paved driveway, costing thousands to restore.
The Solution
Hydro-mechanical root cutting followed by trenchless No-Dig Structural Resin Patch Lining. We inserted a resin-impregnated glass sleeve to permanently seal the pipe.
"We were terrified the driveway would have to be dug up right as we were buying the house. Avery cured the pipe from the inside in just one afternoon. Incredible tech and top-tier service." — Homeowner, Lymm
Surface Water Drainage & Soakaway Installation in Knutsford
A property development project in Knutsford, Cheshire required a complete foul and surface water drainage design and installation to serve a new multi-car garage annex and surrounding patio areas.
The Challenge
Strict planning rules meant no surface water could be directed into the public foul sewer. Severe clay soil required careful percolation testing.
The Solution
Excavation and installation of a deep-bored geowrapped modular soakaway cell system, along with Aco drainage channels and new foul-line connections.
"We hire Avery Drainage Solutions for all our new build groundworks. Their plant operators are highly certified, efficient, and they strictly adhere to building regulations." — Site Developer
Collapsed Shared Sewer Main Replacement in St Helens
We were contacted by a group of domestic property owners in St Helens when a structural collapse of a shared brick sewer lateral caused subsidence in a shared access lane. Our crew rapidly mobilized to secure the area and stabilize the ground.
The Challenge
A collapsed pipe 2.1 meters deep with active wastewater flow. Ground movement threatened a neighboring boundary wall.
The Solution
Trench excavation using shoring boxes to keep engineers safe. We bypassed the flow, removed the brick shards, installed durable twinwall PVC pipework, and safely backfilled.
"The speed with which Avery Drainage Solutions stabilized the site was outstanding. They kept us informed throughout, dealt with United Utilities on our behalf, and left the lane completely reinstated." — Resident, St Helens

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you repair collapsed drains beneath concrete slabs or driveways without digging?
If the pipe is cracked, fractured, or has separated joints but maintains structural roundness, we can repair it using structural patch lining or full-length CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) relining. However, if the pipe has completely collapsed and lost its round profile, localized excavation is required. Our team is fully equipped to handle both.
Who is responsible for repairing a shared drainage pipe?
Typically, any drain lateral or sewer that is shared with a neighbor is classed as a public sewer, and the responsibility for maintenance lies with the local water authority (such as United Utilities in our region). Private drains within your property boundary that only serve your house are the homeowner's responsibility. We can help identify who is responsible during a CCTV survey inspection.
Are your drainage installers qualified to connect to main public sewers?
Yes. Our personnel are fully trained under New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) guidelines and hold full CSCS qualifications. We assist you through the Section 106 application process with United Utilities to ensure sewer connection schemes are approved and fully compliant.
